Today is Cathedral Tour Day, starting out with l'Oratorie St-Joseph located high on a hill in the middle of town. Thankfully fitted with a string of escalators, once inside the main building the big surprise is it's simple style. It was built in the 1920s, where architects had just found out the possibilities in using concrete.
Done here we ride Downtown to see Montreal's Notre Dame, a slightly smaller version of its namesake in Paris. I never made it into the latter, despite several tries, because of the long lines of tourists wanting to get in. This is a decent substitute, though - and probably a bit like going to Disneyland, but the Paris version.
Oddly reminiscent of Rudolf Steiner's 'Goetheanum' in Switzerland, 'Oratoire St-Joseph' is built using concrete, which people in our age know better to be used for infrastructure, bunkers, skyscrapers and - if one goes back a few decades - brutalist architecture.
Above and below: Refrigerator magnet from back home came along for the trip, inside trailer lid.

Lots of idling and very slow riding within city limits drains the MZ battery, because I ride with lights on. Bad idea. So we take it back to Mirek's place for a couple of hours of recharging. Then everything is fine again.
