Mirek wants to show me an Austrian village some 150 kilometers northwest of home, so at noon we start up the bikes and go, mainly in the right direction. 100 of those clicks are on the first curvy & hilly roads I've seen since Colorado - pretty & enjoyable, reminiscent of roads in Sweden, except here the road surface is awful half the time. Still they are the first roads here on the flatlands, where the marking of such in my Rand McNally atlas are worth their designation. Dead raccoons and at a reindeer farm, live reindeer are among the animals we see today, along with picturesque lake and on one of these some small Cessna planes on floats.
Road sign on the way to Mont-Tremblant.
Lost in a stone quarry, also on the way to Mont-Tremblant.
The town of Mont-Tremblant is weird. Having expected an old village with unusual houses, and maybe a few yodelers in Lederhosen, I instead see something looking like an elaborate movie set, because the buildings here are but 20 years old. They didn't overdo it, though, so this is what I'll call 'genuine fake'. Mirek notes that the timeshare apartments for the skiing public, that he was offered when they were new, have increased in value by a factor of six or seven. Well, another lost opportunity....
Photo-op on the way home, so I have some really good ones to show, when will try selling an article about the trip.
