A 2 1/2 hour walk around the place gives an idea of the vastness of this area. The nearest neighbor is but half a mile away, The Bureau of Land Management uses parts of it for cattle grazing, and there's a stone quarry. Wildlife abounds, bear crap on the road, at some point two vultures check us out before flying on in search of something potentially more edible.
Calf skeleton, could've been lying there all winter before being cleaned off by vultures or coyotes.
The MZ exhaust get another burnout, which hopefully will clean off whatever soot blocks all the passageways inside.
We then work some more on the MZ, before driving off to a splendid Japanese restaurant 45 minutes away. Travis at the wheel, the roads are like a roller coaster sans loops. I start thinking about which songs they'll sing at my funeral, but soon convince myself that he knows what he is doing. He has, after all, been driving this particular road thousands of times.
