Today's the day to go pick up a Nimbus I sent over as a back-up bike, in case the MZ croaks. With the trouble the latter has given me, Plan B suddenly seems not all that unrealistic. The drive to Denver goes down trough The Ute Pass, then we're freeway droning to a warehouse where the Nimbus waits for us. Unlike all previous with crates used for shipping motorcycles to the US, this time the crate is completely rusty. The green Nimbus inside it has a few scratches, though not enough to get upset over, and soon we're back on the freeway going home.
A few times the crates have been banged up completely, with damage to the bikes, but this one is ok. Almost.
Tim, a neighbour with welding equipment, attaches some hooks onto the MZ's exhaust manifold, preparing it for the springs that will keep things at this end tight.
Tim's property has more cars than that of Travis, and more in the way of whatever metal one might want to use for - whatever. The Nissen hut - known over here as a 'Quanset hut' - is where he does his welding.
